National Beer Day “On Tap” for April 7th Spaghetti Warehouse Set to Celebrate with 22 oz. $5 Drafts

Famous “First Round” Credited to Former President Franklin D. Roosevelt

Each year, since 2009, April 7th is “National Beer Day”—a celebration in which glasses are raised, beer is enjoyed throughout the day (sometimes with every meal…). And, certainly, it’s a perfect time to enjoy a frosty cold beverage with family, friends and co-workers.

In keeping with the festivities, Spaghetti Warehouse is celebrating #NationalBeerDay on Saturday, April 7th, with a special offer—just $5 for a 22-ounce draft beer.

Just c’mon in and visit any of our locations and our bartenders and servers will be ready with a beer on tap! Whether you’re here for lunch or dinner, or you’d just like to kick back, the Warehouse is the perfect place to experience a refreshing brew (or two).

We offer a variety of draft beers on tap—all just $5. What’s more, you’ll get 22 ounces of a great tasting beer (it might even be less filling…). Just let us know what you like, and we’ll fill up your glass with a beer that’s bound to satisfy your thirst.

Of course, you might ask just how did this barley-inspired holiday get its start?

Way back in 1933 and just a few months before the “official” end of Prohibition, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed into law the Cullen-Harrison Act—a bill that allowed people to buy, sell and drink beer that had 4 percent alcohol by volume (ABV).

Passage of the law also touched off the first “beer bash” you might say. On the first day in which the law went into effect, more than 1.5 million barrels of beer were sold!

To mark the occasion, FDR is reported as saying, “I think this would be a good time for a beer”. We couldn’t agree more!

A few decades later, National Beer Day became an official holiday—thanks to Justin Smith and his friend, Mike Connolly. After a good deal of prodding by Connolly, Smith started a Facebook page that, in turn, caught the attention of a beer examiner in Colorado. It wasn’t long after that, Smith was rewarded for his efforts when the beer drinking app “Untappd” created a ‘badge’ for National Beer Day—rewarding participants who checked into the app while drinking a beer on April 7th.

“Beer Day” promises to be a busy one. After all, the U.S. ranks second only to China in both total beer consumption and production. According to one survey, it’s estimated there are more than 3,000 breweries in a country that’ll manufacture roughly 196 million barrels annually.

So, mark it on your calendar—National Beer Day on Saturday, April 7th—and be sure to visit Spaghetti Warehouse, head over to the bar and enjoy your 22-oz. draft beer for just $5. And, don’t worry, it’s a holiday and having a beer is always a good reason to celebrate!
